Sculpture by the Sea, Australia’s largest annual outdoor sculpture exhibition is back and is on from the 23rd of October to the 9th of November 2014. The spectacular Bondi to Tamarama coastal walk will transform into a sculpture park featuring many creations by artists from all over the world.
Allplastics contributed to this great event by assisting and providing the Acrylic Clear Sheet for the implementation of thousands of imitation lipsticks for Linton Meagher’s sculpture “Glamarama”.
The acrylic sheet is routered and fabricated from clear acrylic sheeting. The fabrication involved routing the thick clear acrylic base plate, fabricating rims to edge the artwork, polishing and moulding the acrylic to follow the curvature and undulations of the rock crevice to give the impression that the artwork is in motion and flowing over the rock face. The moulding involved taking reverse moulds taken from the actual rock face to ensure a close fit in the finished artwork.
"Glamarama" refers to the popular nickname for Tamarama, whose small and relatively private beach frequently draws the beautiful and glamorous set. The “Glamara” represents beauty oozing from the very pores of the rock, like red lava flowing from a crack in the rock face.
