Allplastics were contracted by Ichor Constructions to manufacture a colourful range of PERSPEX® Frost shapes for the Western Sydney University Campus in Nepean.
PERSPEX® Frost has a double sided matt surface which gives an effect similar to that of sandblasted or etched glass. PERSPEX® Frost is available in subtle shades from clear and opal to fresh pastel colours, right through the spectrum to deep warm reds and rich greens and blues.
The frosted texture is refined after thermoforming (heat bending), making the material suitable for a wide range of internal and external applications.
The architectural design team at the Western Sydney University selected a new range of subtle hues for the louvres and awnings at Building P. Lime zest, Burnt Orange and Garnet Red were nominated.
The 3050mm x 2030mm x 6mm thick sheets were an influencing factor in the selection process due to an economic yield achievable as well as minimisation of joints. In addition the 10 year written warranty for outdoor use make PERSPEX® Frost an easy choice.
Both the project builders and the university administration were impressed by the outcome of the project which attracted many positive reviews from university students and visitors.
Allplastics stocks, cuts, fabricates and CNC routes a diverse range of acrylics, polycarbonates, composite panels and many other architectural and building plastics for many applications including shopping centres, public places, exhibitions, point of sale displays, lighting diffusers and many more.
