The presentation and quality of the Display Suite has become an integral part of the sale process in successful launching of apartments in Australia. Builders, developers, architects and designers are constantly looking for innovative finishes that give their buildings that differentiation from thousands of apartments that are being built in major cities. Allplastics Architectural and building division has been involved recently with a number of developers who have specified innovative finishes to provide their Display Suites with that luxurious touch. One of these niche materials has been the use of European grade acrylic mirrors which are available in silver, gold, bronze, grey and other colours.
Acrylic mirrors are lightweight compared with glass. In addition, they are safer and easier to handle on site. This will allow the room to look bigger and also give ceilings and walls a classy finish. Care must be taken about the way acrylic mirrors are installed to avoid warping as well as securing the mirrors on a flat substrate such as MDF.
Allplastics provided Silver Acrylic Mirrors for a newly opened home display suite at Wentworth point in Sydney. The project managers Thomsen Building services were given a challenging brief by the interior architect.
"Standard glass mirror was not feasible due to safety concerns" commented Jason Thompson managing director of Thomsen Building. "Allplastics offered a practical solution by cutting and gluing the 3m x 2m sheets in a tight frame of time". The result is a stunning look as reflected in the photos recently received. Allplastics provides Acrylic Mirrors in silver as well as colours for a diverse range of applications where glass is not practical or economical to use.
Another innovative application for acrylic mirror has been its use in cladding of “islands” in the kitchen. Care must be taken to avoid the mirrors being subjected to kicks or scuffing. This can be achieved by introducing mesh or similar barriers which will not take away the gloss of the mirror but would minimize the risk of any damage to the mirror surface.
