Display Boxes for a Couple of Bonnets
Allplastics Engineering was privileged to be involved and help preserve a small but important part of Australian history.
Tom Walker and Jan Kofron from Dharug & Lower Hawksbury Society approached us recently in their efforts to preserve a pair of very valuable Head bonnets relating to Solomon Wiseman (convict turned Merchant and Ferryman) dating back to the 19th century.
To avoid further deterioration from the elements and provide easy transportation, a custom fabricated acrylic display box was designed and made for the bonnets to be protected, transported, and displayed whilst on exhibition.
The consultant on the project proposed to use matte black acrylic as the base for providing a neutral colour, in order to avoid taking attention away from the items on display. This, combined with a top casing made from Optical Grade Clear Acrylic supplied by Allplastics, allows an unimpeded 360-degree view of this precious piece of history.
The Allplastics fabrication team can craft custom made Acrylic Plinths, showcases, covers, cylinders, hoods, trays, and lightboxes to suit many applications in museums, galleries, exhibitions and product launches. The bespoke displayes can be clear, Frost, or coloured acrylic with diamond edge finish. We also offer a bubble free glue finish for certain showcases.
