At Allplastics we love challenges!
We were given such a challenge earlier this year leading up to the Vivid Festival in Sydney by Weston Williamson & Partners, the architectural firm currently working on the Sydney Metro.
Our engineering team CNC routered a 2 metre diameter polycarbonate disc, covered in small clear, yellow, orange and red Frosted Perspex discs, creating the golden shimmer seen in the photos attached. Midnight Sun is a large flame-coloured disc that rises over Sydney Harbour near Farm Cove.
In the morning it is lit by the rays of the sun, and at night hundreds of tiny coloured discs are illuminated by a LED and flutter and shimmer in the breeze.
The LED light is prepared by a photovoltaic panel which is integral to the installation. It serves as a reminder that only 1.5% of the earth’s land mass would be necessary to generate all our energy requirements.
Let Allplastics convert your ideas into eye-catching displays and art exhibits utilising our colourful spectrum of colours.
