Did you know that drowning is a leading cause of preventable death in children under 5 years of age?
Safe Pools Smart Fences is based in the North-Western area of Sydney, where they serve clients from the Upper North Shore & Hornsby shire suburbs, as well as the Hills District. Safe Pools Smart Fences undertake a large variety of pool area safety compliance repairs, modifications and installations. They have been client of Allplastics Engineering since 2016 when they started their business to focus on this huge growth area.
The NSW new legislation effective 29th April 2016 mandates that properties with a pool to be sold or leased must arrange a compliance certificate.
Did you know that more than 80% of existing pool fences are non-compliant in one or a number of ways?
They have used clear UV2 Polycarbonate of various thicknesses acquired from Allplastics Engineering to implement barriers of various kinds to raise existing pool fences, reduce gaps under or around pool fences to less than 100mm, or to stop children from climbing over pool fences in tricky situations.
“The attached photos show examples of how we raised an existing black aluminium pool fence around a common area pool fence in the middle of a retirement village in St Ives.” said Michael Gyler, director of Safe Pools Smart Fences.
“The existing 1.2+m high pool fence was deemed climbable due to lines of hedging shrubs being on outside of pool fence. The owners committee did not want to remove the shrub hedges, as they served as an important privacy barrier to the numerous units surrounding the pool. So we built a raised frame of 1.8+m high using black aluminium then fixed the clear UV2 polycarbonate sheets to this raised frame.”
The other photo is of a UV2 polycarbonate shield (again framed by aluminium RHS section) hovering above a glass pool fence panel adjacent to a rock retaining wall which could have allowed a child to climb and jump over that pool fence.
Both the body corporate in charge of the retirement home and the owner with the glass pool fence were ecstatic about the creative and transparent/ inconspicuous solutions, whilst achieving compliance.
